Welcome to Ulm and to the FUESE!

The Interdisciplinary First-Semester Orientation (FUESE) brings together first-year students from all degree programs at Ulm University. It takes place from Wednesday, October 7, to Friday, October 9, 2026, directly after the first-semester orientation organized by your department (ESE).

The ESE organized by your departmental student representation takes place before the FUESE and covers important practical information about studying at Ulm University, such as how the university works, exams, emails, and other aspects of everyday student life. Please note that most of the ESE events are generally held in German. 

The International Office offers a separate welcome event for international students in English. We strongly recommend attending this event, as it covers many of the practical topics that are typically discussed during the ESEs and is specifically designed for international students.

The International Office welcome event takes place on Thursday morning, October 8, at the same time as the FUESE City Rally. So if you are attending the International Office event, you will miss the City Rally – and that’s completely fine! There are plenty of other FUESE activities for you to join afterwards.

The International Office event is free, held in English, and requires no prior registration.
